“I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead and some come from behind. But I’ve bought a big bat. I’m all ready you see. Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!” (Dr. Suess)
Oh my...I've been avoiding looking at this antependium all week because I don't like the shape; the top needs to be trimmed to accentuate that the design forms a cross but I just don't want to take the scissors to it again. I trimmed the bottom section last week and am reasonably happy with it (although it took three full days before I looked at it again after I did that!)I had hoped to leave the top section straight up to the hanging rod so that it would be well supported, but it makes the whole piece look top heavy. Like an engineer designing a building, my plan B now is to double up the beam across the centre to carry the weight (i.e. if needed, I will add a sleeve with a rod across the centre to make sure it does not curl on the pulpit.) I've marked where I need to trim to make it match the curves in the bottom part; now I just need the courage to pick up my scissors. I don't have a big bat, Dr. Suess...but I have sharp scissors.
