We Have A New Baby!

My blogging has been a bit sparse lately, mostly due to ongoing computer issues with the new machine (we should be fixed soon, as about the only thing left to replace is the motherboard...). I have begged and borrowed computer usage, currently doing the latter (Lynn to the rescue again *-). Truth to tell, there has also been another distraction in our household. Meet Polly, the newest addition to our family.I arrived back from a weekend out of town in May to find a food dish and litter box...and a huge grin on my youngest son's face. The kitten followed him home late one night as he was walking from a friend's. She was in the middle of the street when he first saw her, shivering, scared, and crying - imagine this little baby out in the dark alone. We've had her a month now and she's grown considerably, both in physical size and in our hearts. We canvassed the neighbourhood and ran ads on the radio but no one claimed the kitten, so...she's ours. Youngest named her Polly as she has the annoying habit of climbing up your back (with needle sharp claws)to sit on your shoulder, like a parrot. We're working to break her of that. Polly is full of kitten silliness and energy and runs and tears until she drops. She is very happy in her new home. She has a keen interest in quilting so I know she will be a valuable addition to the sewing room.

  1. Oh isn't that Polly (a gray tabby) used to do the same thing when she was a baby! And yes, she did grow out of it, now she's happy to climb up into your lap. Congratulations on your new family member, she's a real charmer!

  2. She is adorable!!! Congratulations! I am sure she will bring you many hours of pleasure!

  3. I bet you are having a busy time right now, with Grad. activities! Lots of fun! And now you have added even more fun to the household with Polly. I'm sure she will be a tremendous help with all your sewing... Can you spell D-I-S-T-R-A-C-T-I-O-N??? lol

  4. Congratulations on the new family member! I used to have to feed my two kittens with gloves on because they'd sink their claws into my hands while I was putting their food dishes on the floor. Yes, they grow out of using their claws for everything as they become more co-ordinated. I enjoy everything you put on your blog, but I'm looking forward to seeing more of Polly.

  5. What a little cutie. Have fun with your new addition.

  6. Hi Karen - the kitty looks great. Have fun.

The real reason for this note is to let you know that my quilt has been accepted for the Pacific West Quilters' show! I just received email notification. We are presently in Vienna starting a river cruise, so email reliability is spotty, but I wanted to share the exciting news. Obviously your name will be receiving the design credit, so this should be good for you too.

Anyhow, hope this note can post from this system.

  7. Hi, Joanne: That's terrific news; thanks for doing such a fabulous job on your quilt. You are a great spokesman for my designs! *-)
    Enjoy your trip!

  8. What a beauty!!!!!!!!!!!! I want a Polly too !!!!!!!!!!
