Christmas Friends

We had snow again this morning and it finally looks like Christmas. This Red-bellied Woodpecker caused some excitement at our feeders as these birds are not common in our area.

What a treat to have a new friend visit for Christmas!
From our house to yours, we wish you all a wonderful Christmas. One more sleep and we're there!

  2. Pretty bird! We get lots of birds here, too...3 kinds of woodpeckers but not this one. I'll bet Polly's amused by all the birds. Cassie likes to watch the ones at our feeder. Merry Christmas!

  3. Merry Christmas Karen. There is a woodpecker that comes regularly to a tree in my backyard. Not like this one though.

  4. That reminds me a lot of the red-headed woodpecker - about the only kind I've ever seen. I love the quilt in your header - is that one of your patterns?

Karen, we have had the same kind of bird at our feeder. He or she flies in every morning with the blue jays. Our field guide says they usually just come as far as NY. Apparently there are about 150 pairs in New Brunswick.
