Beware...

I found my Winter Star Mug Mat posted on a site called ISEWFREE.  Do NOT download from this site, which appears to be a collection of pirated patterns posted to lure you into downloading garbage onto your computer. I have no affiliation with this nasty site and did not give permission to allow them to feature my design (nor do they have the pattern, they just lifted the picture - when you click download you get a virus, not a mug mat!)  The Winter Star pattern is a FREE DOWNLOAD, available from Craftsy.
It's a pretty little piece, perfect for this time of year...especially in anticipation of our first snowstorm for 2015 only a couple of days away.

Seeing Stars

A little while back, I posted this pattern for a Winter Star Mug Mat on Craftsy.  Nearly 8000 people downloaded the free pattern, making it one of their most popular.  Thank you!

This one was made by Joan Tufts and like everything Joan does, it's fabulous.  You can see more of her projects on her blog Ouvrages d"une Acadienne.  There have also been a few pictures posted on the Craftsy site, including a pretty pink version.  If you've made the mug mat, please send along a photo to post here.  And if you haven't made one...what's stopping you?  The pattern is free to download and it takes only scraps to make!

Lori's Winter Star

Here's a picture shared by Lori S from Dauphin, Manitoba of her Winter Star Mug Mat.

Lori's guild had a mug mat swap so she made one to give and one to keep. It is interesting to see her quilting these little mats on her longarm over on her blog: http://nightowlquilting.blogspot.ca/2014/01/winter-star-mug-mats.html

I love the background in her photo - I first thought she had them spread out on coffee beans! Thanks so much for sharing, Lori. Having visited the beautiful city of Dauphin during the winter in past years, I expect a cup of something hot is very welcome in January!

If you'd like to make your own Winter Star Mug Mat, the pattern is available as a free download here.

Winter Star Mug Mat on Craftsy

Awhile back I offered this free pattern for a mug mat here on the blog.  At that time, the technology demanded that you contact me and I email the pdf foundations to you.  A great many of you did that.  This morning I added it to Craftsy, where you can go and download it yourself directly to your computer with just a click.  Go ahead, it's free!  And there's no cost to join Craftsy either:  you create an account simply to have a spot to download your patterns.  This is a great little pattern on which to practice foundation piecing, and sewing a gentle curved seam.  Enjoy - winter is almost here!
